APRA 2020: ‘And The Winner Is TANZANIA! #Tanzania #PR

Following the inability of our initial nominee to host the 2020 edition of the African Public Relations Association’s (APRA) Annual Conference, the Executive Council is pleased to announce Dar es Salaam,Tanzania as the new location. The earlier announced dates of May 11-15, 2020, however remain sacrosanct.
TANZANIA PR

The choice of Dar es Salaam was made after careful consideration following the Public Relations Society of Tanzania’s (PRST) request to host, and preliminary conditions for this were agreed upon. This includes the approval of the Government of Tanzania.

APRA is particularly excited at the prospect of returning to East Africa following the very successful hosting of this year's edition earlier on in Kigali, Rwanda.

The fact that Tanzania has never hosted the conference; the remarkable strides made in recent years by PRST and the positively changing narrative of Tanzania, all serve as an irresistible pull for choosing Tanzania as the next destination.

APRA working with the Loth Makuza’s led PRST promises to make APRA Tanzania 2020, a most exceptional conference befitting of an international forum that will make us all very proud.

Over the next few weeks, a steady steam of information regarding the conference will be shared on our various platforms that will aid your travels, participation, accommodation and leisure experience, which APRA & PRST assure you will be most memorable and rewarding.

APRA wishes to thank the Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) and The Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA) respectively, who in the spirit ‘Ubuntu’ true African brotherhood, so graciously offered to host the conference when the lacuna occurred. APRA intends to revisit their offers in the very near future.

APRA urges its members and practitioners across and beyond Africa, to start planning actively to be part of APRA Tanzania 2020.

This image demonstrates just a pictorial aspect difference between Propaganda and Public Relations. A basic definition of Propaganda is the systematic manipulation of public opinion, distinguished from other forms of communication in that it is consciously and deliberately used to influence group attitudes by imposing the opinion of the propagandists on their target. Its methods are also different from PR and other forms of communication. The Gonzales Weekly, an American publishing firm, points to one method used on the American public: the Half-Truth. When it comes to principles of transparency and accountability by leaders to the masses, or Organisational leaders to their stakeholders, however, half-truths are whole lies. On the PR hand, truth must be told in its complete form. When an organisation has crises, for instance, the first step to solve it us...
