PUBLIC RELATIONS: HOW TO BECOME CHARTERED IN NIGERIA [PR/MKTG/ADVERTISING STUDY GROUP COMMENCES IN UYO ON SATURDAY].

The strongest mark of a professional is continuous learning. This is why the Nigerian constitution demands that ONLY chartered PR professionals can practice PR in Nigeria. They are chartered because they are professionals. Now, to be chartered, you will go through NIPR certification exams.

THE PROCESS OF BECOMING CHARTERED
The PR certification process involves registering as an NIPR student, studying on your own, in an NIPR school, or with study groups and professional tutorials, writing NIPR exams, and becoming chartered if you pass the exams.

There are 2 levels to go through: The Professional 1 level, where you take 10 courses; and the Professional 11 level, with 5 advanced PR subjects.

EXEMPTIONS
You must pass all Professional 1 subjects before you can register for Professional 11. NIPR however can exempt people with certain academic qualifications and/or job experience. Graduates of Marketing, Communication Arts, Mass Communications, Business Admin are commonly excused from Professional 1.

Exams hold every 6 months. The studentship expires after 3 years. Within this period, students are expected to pass all 15 (or 5) courses.

HND, BSC EQUIVALENT, NYSC EXEMPTION
The certification & professional Diploma is strong enough to give you admission for Post Graduate Diploma in some renowned Universities in Nigeria & overseas, not withstanding whether you have BSC, HND, OND, ND or whatever. You are also entitled to an NYSC exemption certificate. Obtaining this is however tedious, given tight bureaucratic factors.

With the Professional Diploma, and with 2-5 years work experience, you can apply for MSc in some foreign Universities. This has been boosted by the membership of NIPR in the Global Alliance for PR practice.

Communications Under the Buhari Administration; A Perspective of Chat GPT AI Model

I asked Chat GPT what it thought was wrong with communications under the Muhammadu Buhari administration in relations with its various partners and stakeholders. As is typical of responsible AI, the thorough training of the model influenced the modest tone of its return. But it still highlighted issues that indict that administration. Since the knowledge cutoff of the AI model was September 2021, I had to correct the tenses of the article.  Well, here is what came out.  Enjoy the AI perspective: Title: Wrong Communications Practices in the Government of Muhammadu Buhari Introduction: Wrong communication practices in government can undermine trust and hinder effective governance. Here's how these practices relate to the government of Muhammadu Buhari in Nigeria. Lack of Transparency: The Nigerian government under President Buhari faced criticism for a lack of transparency.
