Barr Onofiok Luke Commissions the Automedics WorkShop |
By Umoh-Obong Kingsley
“The way you are able to treat everybody
equally irrespective of his status in life matters, no matter the type
of car he drives. If you don’t take it serious with the person you think
has little money to pay, bear in mind that the information he leaves
here with will go round the town”.
These were the words of the Speaker of
the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Barr) Onofiok Luke, as he
charged Automotive Engineers in the state on the importance of
excellent, impartial and strategic customer relations.
He made the call while commissioning the
AutoMedics Limited workshop complex, a one-stop automobile diagnostic,
repairs and maintenance workshop, in Uyo over the weekend.
Barr Luke applauded the administration of
Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom
State, for making the state secure because, according to him, without
security, you would not be able to function.
“This is in consonance with the
industrialisation drive and the Dakkada philosophy of this government
that you must not sit down; you must arise to see what you can do for
yourself. Do you have a partner somewhere that you can attract to Akwa
Ibom? That is what my friends have done with AutoMedics and it is a
welcome development.

“The government, under Governor Udom
Emmanuel, has promised an enabling environment, making sure that there
is absolute security of lives and properties, and to provide
infrastructure because these are the two plans on which business
strives.
“It is not the place of government to do
business, but to create enabling business environment for businessmen.
It is the place of government to support business to grow depending on
the partnership with government either by equity or public/private
partnership, then government will support businesses to grow.
“We find out that an industrialised
society would have so many cars, not the old model kind of cars, but
cars that are up-to-date. You need to be in tune with current
technological realities to be able to satisfy your customers.” The
Speaker said.
In declaring the workshop open, Barr Luke
expressed appreciation on behalf of the Udom Emmanuel led
administration, and prayed for the business to last for generations to
come.
“On behalf of the Akwa Ibom State House
of Assembly, the state government, we appreciate this development,
well-wishers, those who are in support of the industrialisation drive of
His Excellency, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, it is a pleasure and
honour. I commission this workshop to the glory of God in the name of
God the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.”
Advising the trainees and staff of the
Uyo workshop, the Honourable Speaker noted that there are no white
collar jobs any longer. What is going to keep food on the table of our
teeming youths is what they can do with their hands.” He said, adding:
“How this business will survive depends on you. Information moves very
fast. Bear in mind that, aside God, you are the driving force of this
workshop.”
The Managing Director of AutoMedics
Limited nationwide, Engineer Kunle Shonaike expressed appreciation to
the Akwa Ibom State Government and the Governor Emmanuel for the
impressive level of security and stability in the State; also commending
the Honourable Speaker for taking time out of his extremely busy
schedule to show an unquantifiable show of support to the opening of the
business.
He said that AutoMedics has perfected plans to train about 100 mechanics in Akwa Ibom State, in a nationwide capacity building programme sponsored by Oando limited.
He said that AutoMedics has perfected plans to train about 100 mechanics in Akwa Ibom State, in a nationwide capacity building programme sponsored by Oando limited.
“Oando will be training about 5000
mechanics in Nigeria, and we selected Uyo as the next destination of
this training, since we are just opening this new workshop here. The
training is usually in two aspects – theoretical and practical. We try
to marry the two together.
Normally, some of the trainees are
retained in our workshops while others are attached other local
workshops.” There are several areas of automotive, we train them in all
the areas and they decide on their areas of specialisation.” The US
trained Engineer said.
Speaking to members of the press, a
co-partner of the Automedics Uyo franchise, Mr. Uduak Umo, who is also
the PR manager for the Uyo workshop, stressed that the Automedics model
of automobile repairs and maintenance utilizes deep analysis so as to
achieve precision guided diagnoses.
